Devlog 5: Decorating Level


Heya pizza lovers, 

This week we made some more progress for our game! We mainly focussed on the layout of our level and made sure almost all of our props are already modelled and in there.

Programming

For the programming part this week, we made a split screen and put our camera up to see how far the player would be from the camera. We made sure that all the props from that height are still visible.


We also made the driving mechanic which you can see in the next two gifs. The camera also follows the scooter at all times.



Sound

As for the sound we made most of the wwise events. We then put the music in the playlist for randomization. So this means that the main music will loop without it always sounding the same. We also already made the ambience music and added it to wwise as well.




Art

This week we made a lot of props for our game. We made sure that all the textures of the environment were desaturated enough so when we have our interactive assets, they pop a lot more by having more saturation than the rest of the level.

Nature Assets

We modelled everything for the nature part. We have 3 different trees with 3 different colors to spice up our level a bit. We also made a little pavement so we can not only put the trees in the park but also on the sidewalk. 


We also did the same for our bushes, made 3 variations with 3 different colors to fill up our level.


Then we also made some flowers. We also made some planters for our flowers so we could also put those on the sidewalks.


Normal Assets

We then made a boat for the river.  So the bridge has a reason of opening when a boat comes through.


We also made some other props to copy around the level such as the lantern, the bench and another garbage bin which isn't interactive like the last one we modelled.

Interactive Assets

As we mentioned before, we made all of our other environmental pieces a lot less desaturated so our interactive props stand out a lot more just like this firehydrant.

Buildings and roads

Here are some buildings and road/sidewalk pieces that we've made as well to build up our whole map.





Characters

We also updated the characters a bit more so they are more in line with the style of our artbible. We made the heads even bigger so it's really top heavy. We also removed the neck since most of our references didn't have any necks. We also changed the face up a little bit so it's more cartoony.




In conclusion, our artists did a great job on updating the map with new assets this week
