Devlog 7: UI and much more!

Hiya pizza lovers, we're back again with our weekly update!

Art

This week we started on the UI of the game.  The images are going to show what the screens are mostly going to look like, but are still going to be refined in the next few weeks.

This is what the start screen will mainly look like.

Next we have the customization screen, so you can decorate your scooter to your liking! You will have a primary color to choose from, a secondary color and also some premade skins to make your scooter look  super cool!

This is what the loading screen will look like when a player is still joining the game.

And this is what the win screen will look like. You have a leaderbord to see who came in first place and also see how well you did compared to the other players. From that you can go back to the lobby (customization screen), start a new round or just quit the game.

We also made a base setup for our HUD.

We also made a path for our park that is a bit more wonky so it feels more natural

We edited our water shader a bit so it looks more like stylized water.

After that we also made a border for the river which looks like this:

We also made some particles for the boat which looks like this. Since the boat will be splashing some water around when sailing by.

After that we also made animations for some throwables

and some more for the character

In the scene we also fixed most of our collisions so the player can easily go through the level.

In addition to this we also added some flags with some Basic wind animation in Engine.

Sound

For the sound we setup the speaker configuration so that players 1 and 3 (left side), 2 and 4 (right side) get their sound coming through on their respective sides. This is so that the audio from all players is seperated at least in half to avoid cluttering.

We also already made the sound for all of the pickups for when they're being used.

After that we made sounds for the environmental props that have animations/mechanics to them, such as the trashcan and fire hydrant.

Programming

Our programmer created a script that allows us to replace objects in the scene with prefabs. After that the programmer solved a bug where the players camera wouldn't follow the correct player. She added a really basic pizza spawn mechanism where a pizza would spawn at a random pizza shop. She also fixed some issues with some prefabs so they would work like they were intended to work. For driving, it now feels more realistic when moving forward / backward.

Thankyou for reading, we'll catch you next week!
